Warren Steel #2
Transcontinental Railroad, Albany County, Wyoming
2019 marks the 150th anniversary of the 1869 completion of the transcontinental railroad. I'm excited to announce that several of my photographs will be in a book titled AFTER PROMONTORY created by the Center for Railroad Photography & Art. Many other photographers will be featured including @alexramosphoto - @l.ableidinger - @richardkoenig6644. Thanks to Jeff Brouws for designing the book and to Scott Lothes & Co @railphotoart for the whole project!

There will be an traveling exhibition along with the book. Stay tuned for more info.
My interest in the Northern New Jersey landscape stems from the strange displacement I feel when passing through the area.  There’s no real sense of center, everything is crisscrossed with highways, powerlines, rail lines – everything that supports the larger urban areas of New York City, Newark, Jersey City.  I found that in photographing this scene of the Pulaski Skyway, a beautiful industrial relic built during the early days of monumental automobile infrastructure, there was an expression of that very spatial disorientation that is so indicative of this part of the Northeast.
